OMG I discovered Windows Movie Maker on my laptop.* I will be making an attempt to show you guys what's inside my head whenever I hear Butterflies and Hurricanes, like I gushed about in this post. Movement is going to be tricky, but I can at least make sketches and stills and put them to the music and you guys can see.

I will probably also bitch about the problems I run into while drawing, because scenery and guys and anatomy are still pretty, um, difficult for me. BUT I WILL TRY.

*So I hadn't really explored my laptop yet. Mostly because I did not want to get excited about things before I was sure this thing wasn't also going to crash as soon as I sneezed at it. I tried it out by recording myself singing second voice to Hallelujah, which is pretty amusing, but then found out that the two tracks cannot be put together in Movie Maker. Or at least if it's possible I have not found out how.

Gosh, you guys, I wish I could describe what I see in my head whenever Muse's Butterflies and Hurricanes is on. I wish I were a decent animation artist, so I could show you. I may have to attempt something of a story snippet to get this out of my head, because the sensation of moving, running, flying, crashing, bouncing and taking off again was especially strong this morning.

Sound > movement is part of the synesthesia spectrum, but it totally depends on the song; some songs don't move at all.

He was perfectly charming - pretty blue eyes, slightly curly blond hair that gave him that perfect gentleman look, confident smile. He offered to buy her a drink, and when she asked for his name he brushed the back of her hand with his lips and told her his name was Kevin. So not just a charmer, but an old-fashioned one - or it could all be an act. Either way, he'd managed to charm her, and she briefly wondered how many other women that trick had worked on. Luckily, the light was too low and erratic for him to see her blush, but with the way he smiled he might have noticed it anyway.

She accepted his offer, and watched him order a martini. When he handed it to her, their fingers touched, a pleasant thrill, and he said that really he ought not to buy drinks for women whose name he didn't even know, no matter how beautiful they might be. She almost laughed at that, but smiled instead, grabbed hold of her drink and told him her name.

He grew still at that, and she saw his lips silently mouth 'Joanna'. In his eyes - bright and sparkling blue, but now losing some of their warmth - she saw both disappointment and excitement. He did not release her drink, and with her fingers trapped among his she could not pull away without spilling the drink or making a scene. After a moment that lasted either a heartbeat or a few million years, Kevin leaned in close enough to whisper in her ear.

'Did you know that your name looks like fresh blood spilled on azure carpet?' he said, in an intimate whisper that left her skin prickly and clammy with suddenly fearful sweat. He leaned back again and took a sip of hs own drink, his eyes and hand keeping her securely captured. He smiled coldly.

And then he said the words that scared her more than anything else ever had, but not so much that she would not learn what real fear was, later.

'I shall have to find an azure carpet.'

PLOT BUNNY

A synesthetic serial killer who chooses his victims based on what colour their names have, or their birthdates, or what personality their birthdates have, and no one able to figure it out until someone (detective? reporter? something less stereotypical? ooh, this could be like Numb3rs!) comes along who happens to share the serial killer's synesthesia* and points out the similarities in the cases that are obvious to him but invisible to everyone else.

*This is the weak point, I admit. It is very unlikely to find two people who experience exactly the same effects. But then again, this is fiction. Anything is possible. You just have to write it really well.

In other news, Life is an awesome, awesome show. Though for some stupid reason they broadcasted a double episode to start it off, but started with episode 8 or something, and then followed it by the pilot. Er, what? They were related cases, but still. Way to get it wrong.
